Mary E. Theler Wetlands Nature Preserve Hike

On Saturday 11 folks came out for our hike at the Mary E. Theler Wetlands Nature Preserve in Belfair.  It  ended up being more of a stroll, but we still covered over 3 miles of trails.  The thick fog made the wetlands feel mysterious and secluded.  Even though the tide was out that morning, we still managed to see quite a few fowl including a bald eagle.  It was a very interesting & educational place.  Thanks to Brenda who took several of these photos.

We walked down the Rock Wall Trail, the River Estuary Trail and the South Tidal Marsh Trail.

I thought about taking pictures of these cute mile markers, but never got around to it.  Glad that Brenda did!

Awesome roots on this tree.

This picture of the Union River was taken later after the fog dissipated.

Peekaboo view of the Olympics.  If you look closely there is a bald eagle on the marsh.
