Yoh! Hike to Beacon Rock

Wow! It's been a while since I've posted to this blog...here goes....

This morning 6 people and 2 dogs traveled to the Columbia River Gorge to hike a trail that has been on my bucket list for a while-Beacon Rock.  This trail is 1.8 miles round trip with an elevation gain of 578 feet.  The highest point is 848 feet high with panoramic views of the surrounding area.  The trail has 52 switchbacks!  We hit the trail at 9:58 AM and 4 of us-Teresa, Carrie, Scott & I- made it to the top about a half hour later.  Meanwhile Tammy and Stacey decided to do the River to Rock Trail because they were not crazy about the dizzying heights.  After we made it down from Beacon Rock, we starting hiking the River to Rock Trail, but didn't quite finish before we ran into them on their way out.  In all we hiked nearly 4 miles.  So glad the weather was gorgeous & afforded us amazing views. Afterward we drove to nearby Stevenson for a delicious lunch at Walking Man Brewing.

Amazing views as soon as we started climbing....

So many switchbacks!

Looking down...not quite to the top yet.

Yes! We climbed that!

This sign lied...it was way longer than .75 miles.
