Talapus & Olallie Lakes Hike

This was a great hike to two beautiful lakes.  The trail climbed steadily  (1220 feet in 3.1 miles) with a very gentle grade.  There were lots of switchbacks & some muddy areas, but overall the trail was well maintained.  We lucked out and had great weather...not too cold & dry for the most part (only a few drops on the way back down).  Saw tons of mushrooms & ran into a couple of mushroom hunters.  They seemed to know what they were doing, but we were not 100% sold on their foraging knowledge.  Some of those mushrooms looked quite suspect.  We stopped for lunch at Olallie Lake before heading back down to the trailhead.

Always nice to have a bathroom at the trail head.

It was well signed.

First glimpse of Talapus Lake.  We stopped by later on our way down.

Very weird mushroom.

Olallie Lake

The water was so clear.

Pam got in to soak her feet.

Really cool how the moss (lichen?) hung on these trees.  It made me want to braid them.

This was on the way back when we stopped at Talapus Lake.

Pam was thinking...
