This was a great hike to two beautiful lakes. The trail climbed steadily (1220 feet in 3.1 miles) with a very gentle grade. There were lots of switchbacks & some muddy areas, but overall the trail was well maintained. We lucked out and had great weather...not too cold & dry for the most part (only a few drops on the way back down). Saw tons of mushrooms & ran into a couple of mushroom hunters. They seemed to know what they were doing, but we were not 100% sold on their foraging knowledge. Some of those mushrooms looked quite suspect. We stopped for lunch at Olallie Lake before heading back down to the trailhead.

Always nice to have a bathroom at the trail head. |

It was well signed. |

First glimpse of Talapus Lake. We stopped by later on our way down. |

Very weird mushroom. |

The water was so clear. |

Pam got in to soak her feet. |

Really cool how the moss (lichen?) hung on these trees. It made me want to braid them. |

This was on the way back when we stopped at Talapus Lake. |

Pam was thinking... |
